The Basis For This Thought

We kill ourselves for a taste of the almighty money pool. We all still live in relative poverty whether we know it or not. Morally bankrupt and mentally unstable, civilization moves on day after day. Are we just trading our souls (my definition of the soul is that time we spend physically alive) for a cut of the financial pie?

What if we were to live like the caveman who came before us? We would have true freedom to move about as we wish without boundaries other than the physical ones that exist on the planet. Our only limitations would be those we could not physically overcome such as climate, mountains, seasonal weather, natural predators, and disease. Our only needs could go back to the basics such as food, clothing, shelter, and a mate to proliferate the species. Hell we might even begin to respect the planet again!

We are now stuck in a fast-paced world from which there is no return. Even our choices for vacations are far from true relaxation. We work our asses off for more than half a year to pay taxes of one sort or another. Many go to churches where even more money is collected in the name of the most high. The last time I checked, God didn't need money.

We aren't allowed to cross certain imaginary (ie POLITICAL) boundaries without proper identification and permission from imaginary entities. We can't earn a living without paying these same entities homage in the form of our hard-earned money. Then we can't spend the remainder unless we then again pay taxes for the priviledge to trade our money for the things we need to live. We pay for land and homes that we can never call our own because again we get a tax bill each year for the priviledge of our location. We can't even be homeless legally. Why do we consider ourselves free?

I seem to recall from history classes that some people came here from far away to get away from religious tyranny and political oppression. If my feeble memory serves me correctly, they paid a pretty high price in sweat-equity and blood too. How did we ever forget them to become us? Can anyone tell me that?
